Oshpitzin. A Guide to the Jewish History of Oświęcim

Before Auschwitz became the ultimate symbol of the Holocaust, it was just an ordinary Polish town known as Oświęcim. The majority of its citizens were Jewish. 'Oshpitzin' application lets you walk in the footsteps of the non-existent today synagogues, factories and the common heritage of Polish-Jewish. Produced by the Auschwitz Jewish Center audio-guide is based on the pre-war town. By using augmented reality technology on the phone screen, you can see 3D models of selected buildings, which have not survived to this day. This app is a tribute to almost 500 years of Jewish history in Oświęcim which was overshadowed by the tragedy of Auschwitz and the Holocaust.

Functions:
- Map of Jewish's monuments in Auschwitz
- 3D model of the Great Synagogue in augmented reality, appears in the authentic location of the building or by scanning a QR code (downloadable from www.oszpicin.pl/marker.pdf)
- Historical photos applied to modern image of the camera phone / tablet in augmented reality
- Video clips of the relationship of Holocaust survivors on selected sites
- The opportunity to explore the defined routes

      

This app includes also German, Hebrew and Polish translations.

Warning:

The application requires a short connection to the Internet (by phone or wifi) to auto-configuration - the best open it after installation. From that moment it works 100% offline.
