John Paul II Family Home Museum

In a house at Kościelna Street, number 7, on the 18th of May 1920, Karol Wojtyła was born, who later became the Holy Father, John Paul II. The Wojtyła family, in years 1919-1938, resided in a two rooms and a kitchen apartment, on the first floor. In this house Karol Wojtyła spent all his childhood and youth. In 1984 an open papal exhibition was set up here. Since 2010 the building is under renovation, adapting the whole tenement into the museum. After opening in 2014 tourists can witness the whole life of Saint John Paul II. The heart of the museum is the apartment in which Karol Wojtyła was born and raised. Inside, there are original pieces connected with the Wojtyła Family. The Museum of the Holy Father John Paul II is a cultural institution created by the following entities: the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Malopolska Region, the Municipality of Wadowice and the Archdiocese of Cracow.
